ShowUp Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of ShowUp. By creating an account or starting a cycle, you agree to these terms.

What ShowUp Is

ShowUp is a digital accountability service. You choose a physical spot, set an accountability amount and 30-day target, and confirm the cycle before it starts. Each verified show-up reduces the final cycle charge. If you complete your target, the final cycle charge is zero.

ShowUp is not a betting, gambling, lottery, fantasy sports, contest, prize, investment, debt collection, gym membership, medical, therapy, or weight-loss product. Users cannot win money or receive payouts.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use ShowUp. You must provide accurate account information and keep access to your sign-in method secure.

Voluntary Cycles and Charges

Payments

All in-app payments, when due, are processed through Google Play Billing after the cycle ends. ShowUp does not take payment when you confirm a cycle and does not offer subscriptions, card, UPI, bank-transfer, wallet, Razorpay, Stripe, or external in-app payment flows.

Google Play controls the payment method and purchase interface. ShowUp keeps the server-side ledger that records whether a cycle charge is pending, paid, not completed, refunded, voided, or under reconciliation.

Witnesses

You may optionally invite one Witness for a cycle. A cycle can start, continue, close, and reconfirm without a Witness. Witnesses use private links and, if they have the Android app, may explicitly accept while signed in. Opening or previewing an invite does not bind a signed-in account; binding happens only after explicit acceptance. ShowUp does not upload contacts, does not ask for contacts permission for Witness invites, does not provide free-form Witness chat, and does not send Witness email digests.

Current public Witness invite and access links use /showup/witness/*. Old /showup/partner/* links become generic unavailable after the Witness cutover and do not redirect or reveal private details. You are responsible for sharing a Witness link only with the person you intend to invite. You can remove or block Witness access from the app, and removal does not affect your cycle, check-ins, final result, payment obligation, dispute rights, or account deletion rights.

A Witness can see only your chosen display name, target show-ups, aggregate verified show-up count after acceptance, cycle day/window, optional spot name if you turn it on, and final result if sharing remains enabled. Spot name sharing is off by default. Final result sharing is on by default for active-cycle invites and can be turned off before backend cycle closure.

Witnesses cannot see live location, raw GPS, check-in dates or times, distance, accuracy, integrity signals, routine data, payment state, charge amount, Google Play order details, disputes, support messages, fraud/admin state, phone number, email address, device data, identity hashes, authenticated app-user identity, or private account details.

Witnesses may send bounded canned nudges when backend state allows, leave, or report a concern. Witness reports are abuse and privacy signals; they do not prove check-in truth and do not change payment state outside ShowUp's existing dispute, goodwill, or manual-adjustment process.

Witnesses cannot receive money, settle charges, collect from you, arbitrate disputes, verify GPS truth, approve check-ins, change cycles, enforce payment, or receive payouts. Witness result access expires 7 days after backend cycle closure.

Check-Ins

ShowUp verifies presence at your selected spot using foreground online GPS. The app does not use background location, photo verification, face verification, or workout-duration tracking.

You are responsible for checking in from the app while you are near your selected spot and while your device has network and location access. A valid show-up may not be credited if you forget to check in, disable location, spoof location, use the wrong account, or try to check in outside the accepted area.

Disputes and Manual Review

If you believe a show-up, final cycle charge, calculation, or payment state is wrong, contact support or use the in-app dispute path when available. We review disputes using account records, check-in records, payment state, device signals, and the information you provide. ShowUp does not request final cycle payment while a dispute for that cycle is open.

To allow timely review, raise disputes within 3 days after the scheduled cycle end for check-in, charge, or calculation issues, and within 3 days after payment for payment mismatch issues. We may decline to review disputes raised after this window unless required by law or platform policy. Google Play refund rights remain subject to Google Play's own refund window.

When ShowUp accepts that an app, backend, payment, spot, or verification error affected your cycle, we may correct the show-up state, correct the cycle charge before payment, or apply an account credit. Google Play refund rights are handled through Google Play's own refund process.

Fair Use

Do not abuse the service, spoof location, submit false disputes, bypass payment flows, attack the backend, reverse-engineer private APIs, create repeated accounts to evade restrictions, or interfere with another user's account. We may block cycle starts, require review, suspend an account, or preserve records when abuse is suspected.

Availability and Updates

ShowUp depends on your device, Android, Firebase, Google Play, location services, Mapbox, internet access, and ShowUp's backend. The service may be unavailable during outages, maintenance, platform incidents, or required app updates.

If a force update is required, you may need to update the app before continuing. If you cannot update and have an active cycle, contact support.

Account Deletion

You can request account deletion at /delete-account or by contacting contact@uvbolt.com at any time, including when a final cycle charge or review is unresolved. Deletion disables Witness invite and access links with generic Witness-facing copy. Deletion does not by itself cancel a valid cycle charge or erase records required for fraud prevention, payment reconciliation, tax, accounting, legal compliance, dispute handling, Witness reports, or platform enforcement. Unresolved charges do not escalate, accrue interest, or transfer to a collection agency.

Privacy

The ShowUp Privacy Policy explains how data is collected, used, processed, retained, and deleted. Read it at /privacy.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

ShowUp is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties about the service, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free performance, or that every check-in will be credited in real time.

Nothing in this section limits rights you have under non-excludable consumer law in your jurisdiction.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising from your use of ShowUp is limited to the lesser of (a) the total fees you paid to ShowUp in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) ₹10,000 (Indian rupees ten thousand).

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to the next paragraph, the courts in Pune, Maharashtra, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of ShowUp.

Disputes about Google Play purchases, refunds, or payment methods are handled through Google Play's own refund and dispute process under Google Play's terms.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the app, law, or platform requirements change. We will post material changes here at least 30 days before they take effect, and where you have an active cycle we will surface a notice in the app or send an email to the address on file. Continued use of ShowUp after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
